故事发生在二十世纪五十年代的美国米琪（蕾切尔·布罗斯纳罕 Rachel Brosnahan 饰）和丈夫乔伊（迈克尔·泽根 Michael Zegen 饰）结婚多年两人共同抚养着他们的孩子生活可谓是幸福而又美满乔伊一直想要成为一名脱口秀演员每周末他都会前往俱乐部登台表演然而乔伊的脱口秀事业一直都不温不火 &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;　　某天在表演又一次失败后乔伊崩溃了他向米琪坦白自己有了外遇并且当即收拾行李离开了家一夜之间米琪成了一个被丈夫抛弃的女人悲伤和绝望之中米琪登上了舞台借着酒劲进行了一番精彩绝伦的演说逗得台下满堂大笑俱乐部的女招待苏西（艾利克斯·布诺斯汀 Alex Borstein 饰）在米琪身上发现了过人的天赋决定成为她的经纪人
